Navigating Copper-Atom-Pair Structural Effect inside a Porous Organic Polymer Cavity for Selective Hydrogenation of Biomass-Derived 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural

Chitra Sarkar et al.

Summary: Selective hydrogenation of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) to produce the novel difuranic polyol scaffold 2,5-dihydroxymethylfuran (DHMF) has attracted interest. The use of stable and balanced Cu-0 and Cux+ active surface species inside a catechol-based porous organic polymer (POP) nanocage led to the development of a highly efficient Cu@C-POP catalyst for S-HMF hydrogenation, surpassing other reported copper catalysts in catalytic performance.

Zeolite Fixed Metal Nanoparticles: New Perspective in Catalysis

Yeqing Wang et al.

Summary: Loading metal nanoparticles within zeolite crystals provides advantages of high activity, shape selectivity, and stability, addressing the shortcomings of traditional supported metal nanoparticles. The combination of metal nanoparticles and zeolites in metal@zeolite catalysts offers enhanced catalytic performance by facilitating reactant diffusion, adjusting adsorption, and sieving reactants and products in zeolite micropores. Optimizing wettability and microporous confinement in zeolites further improves efficiency and productivity in catalytic reactions, making these catalysts promising for industrial applications and fundamental catalytic research.

Thienyltriazine based conjugated porous organic polymers: tuning of the porosity and band gap, and CO2 capture

Neha Rani Kumar et al.

Summary: A series of conjugated porous polymers containing thiophene and triazine units were synthesized and their properties were efficiently tuned by varying the porosity and band gap. Nitrogen and sulfur atoms in the triazine and thiophene units acted as electron-donating centers for excellent adsorption of CO2 molecules. Among the polymers, TT-CPP1 showed the highest CO2 uptake due to its small pore size and strong adsorbate-adsorbent interactions.
