Numerical study for bio-convection flow of tangent hyperbolic nanofluid over a Riga plate with activation energy

Hassan Waqas et al.

Summary: This paper discusses a mathematical model for the two-dimensional flow of tangent hyperbolic nanofluid over a Riga plate in the presence of gyrotactic microorganisms. The governing non-linear partial differential equations are transformed into a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations using a set of pertinent transformations. The numerical solutions of the dimensionless equations are obtained using the bvp4c technique, and the numerical results are presented using the bvp4c tool in MATLAB. The graphical representations show the effects of various parameters on concentration, velocity, temperature, and motile microorganism profiles. The study concludes that increasing the variations of mixed convection parameters enhances the velocity of the tangent hyperbolic fluid, a larger Prandtl number reduces the temperature of the nanofluid, the concentration of nano particles is enhanced by growing activation energy parameters, and the microorganisms profile is improved with the first-order velocity slip parameter while decaying for bio-convection Lewis number.

Analysis of transport phenomenon in cross fluid using Cattaneo-Christov theory for heat and mass fluxes with variable viscosity

T. Salahuddin et al.

Summary: The study investigates heat and mass diffusion in 2D Cross nanofluid flow over a parabolic surface using the Cattaneo-Christov model, considering temperature-dependent viscosity, enthalpy change, and activation energy. The determining equations are generated in the form of PDEs and transformed into ODEs using similarity transformations, and numerical outcomes are analyzed using the BVp4c method in Matlab software. The velocity of fluid shows reverse results with increasing Weissenberg number and viscosity parameter, while larger values of thermal and concentration relaxation parameters indicate a decrease in the respective fields. Numerical results for skin friction coefficient, Sherwood number, and Nusselt number for various parameters are presented in tables.

Cattaneo-Christov heat flux and entropy generation on hybrid nanofluid flow in a nozzle of rocket engine with melting heat transfer

Hassan Waqas et al.

Summary: This study examines the mathematical formulations of hybrid nanoliquid filled with thermal radiation, Cattaneo-Christov heat theory and melting phenomenon in a rocket engine nozzle. By transforming the governing equations into a system of nonlinear ODEs using similarity transformations, the outcomes are obtained using the bvp4c method in MATLAB software, with physical flow characteristics shown against velocity, temperature, and entropy generation profiles. Velocity decreases with higher volume fraction of nanoparticles and melting parameter, while the thermal field decreases with variations in thermal relaxation and melting parameters, and increases with higher Biot number. The entropy generation profile increases with higher Reynolds number and Brinkman parameter, with this study being the first attempt to characterize melting phenomena and Cattaneo-Christov heat theory in a rocket engine nozzle using hybrid nanoparticles and kerosene as a base fluid.
