Electromagnetic interference shielding of Ti3C2Tx MXene modified by ionic liquid for high chemical stability and excellent mechanical strength

Yan-Jun Wan et al.

Summary: Ti3C2Tx MXene, with its superior metallic conductivity and excellent solution processability, faces challenges in practical applications due to its susceptibility to oxidation in humid or aqueous environments, resulting in the disassembly of the 2D-layered structure. By modifying Ti3C2Tx with imidazolium-based ionic liquid (IL), the chemical stability and mechanical strength of Ti3C2Tx can be significantly improved.

The effect of D-spacing on the ion selectivity performance of MXene membrane

Faezeh Arshadi et al.

Summary: This study utilized MD simulations to investigate the effects of nanochannel size and free interlayer spacing on ion separation and ion transport. Results showed that increasing the free interlayer spacing within a certain range can enhance overall ionic conductivity but decrease selectivity for Li+ and K+. Experimental data corroborated the simulation findings, further revealing the ion transport mechanism through MXene nanochannels.

MXene-based gas separation membranes with sorption type selectivity

D. Petukhov et al.

Summary: The specific properties of O- and OH-terminated Ti3C2Tx nanosheets contribute to the permeance and sorption type selectivity of MXene membranes. These membranes demonstrate high separation factors and permeances for ammonia and water vapors, with strong sorption capacities and labyrinthine transport. The diffusion coefficient of strongly absorbed gases increases with pressure, and the interlayer distance expands, reducing activation barriers for hopping diffusion. Demonstrated characteristics make Ti3C2Tx nanosheets a promising candidate for developing ammonia selective membranes.

Stacking Sequence, Interlayer Bonding, Termination Group Stability and Li/Na/Mg Diffusion in MXenes

Jacob Hadler-Jacobsen et al.

Summary: MXenes are versatile 2D carbide materials with rich chemistry and a wide range of properties. The stacking of MXenes, such as Ti3C2Tx, can be influenced by termination groups, with OH termination being stable up to a certain coverage. The degree of hydrogen bonding in termination groups plays a deciding role in predicting stacking types and Li diffusion.
