Recent advances in synthesis and modification of carbon dots for optical sensing of pesticides

It highlights the integration of various recognition elements and design principles in photoluminescent, electrochemiluminescent, and colorimetric sensors, as well as the novel functions of CDs in constructing optical sensors. Additionally, it discusses the real-world application performances, existing inadequacies, challenges, and future perspectives for pesticide monitoring using CDs-based sensing strategies.

Large scale synthesis of full-color emissive carbon dots from a single carbon source by a solvent-free method

Summary: This work demonstrates a solvent-free large scale synthesis method for CDs with high QY, tunable PL emission, and production yield. The optical properties of the CDs can be modulated by controlling the deamination and dehydrogenation processes during reactions. Additionally, WLEDs with high CRI across the visible range are successfully fabricated by mixing the red, green, and blue emissive CDs into PVA matrix in appropriate ratios.

Carbon Quantum Dots Based Chemosensor Array for Monitoring Multiple Metal Ions

Summary: In this study, a method using a carbon quantum dots (CQDs)-based chemosensor array for simultaneous detection of multiple metal ions in water was described. The CQDs were functionalized with different amino acids, which acted as sensing elements in the sensor array. Eleven metal ions were successfully identified with 100% classification accuracy. The method also allowed quantitative prediction of individual metal ion concentrations in mixtures and qualitative detection of unknown metal ions under interference. Overall, the strategy provides a novel high-throughput approach for the identification of various analytes in complex systems.

Detection of pathogens using graphene quantum dots and gold nanoclusters on paper-based analytical devices

Luminescent monodispersed carbon quantum dots by a microwave solvothermal method toward bioimaging applications
