Microfluidic synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles in droplet-based microreactors

Summary: Microfluidic devices are widely used for the controlled synthesis of various nanomaterials through continuous microreactors. In this study, magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized using droplet-based continuous microreactors in a microfluidic chip. The size and properties of nanoparticles were investigated by varying the flow rate and temperature of the aqueous and oil streams. The efficient chemical reaction initiated by fusing two aqueous droplets showed superior results compared to conventional methods for synthesizing Fe3O4 nanoparticles.

Synthesis of smart carriers based on tryptophan-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles and its application in 5-fluorouracil delivery

Summary: Multifunctional nanocarriers have been increasingly studied for tumor targeting and traceable features in cancer therapies. In this study, a novel targeting agent, tryptophan (TRP), was used to synthesize functionalized iron oxide nanoparticles, creating a smart drug delivery system (DDS). The DDS loaded with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) exhibited high loading efficiency and pH-sensitive release profile. In vitro studies showed that TRP can enhance cellular uptake through cancerous cells and using DDS can increase the cell viability of normal cells and decrease the cell viability of cancerous cells. These findings suggest that the advanced nano-assembly is a promising candidate for targeted breast cancer delivery.

A magnetoelectric nanocomposite based on two dimensional Cr2O3 and CoFe2O4

Summary: Nanocomposites consisting of 2D amorphous Cr2O3-CoFe(2)O(4) and crystalline 2D Cr2O3-CoFe(2)O(4) were prepared and studied for their room temperature magnetoelectric coupling. The effect of crystalline 2D Cr2O3 on the exchange bias induced magnetoelectric coupling in the composites was also investigated. Evidence of exchange bias in the composites was obtained from FC-ZFC measurements. The 2D crystalline Cr2O3 composite exhibited a higher magnetoelectric coupling coefficient at room temperature compared to the bulk composite of Cr2O3. These composites have promising applications in energy harvesting and spintronics.
