Chiral Nanostructured Bimetallic Au-Ag Films for Enantiomeric Discrimination

Pu Yang et al.

Summary: This study reports on chiral nanostructured bimetallic Au-Ag films with photomagnetic-chiral anisotropy and surface-enhanced Raman scattering-chiral anisotropy for efficient enantiomeric discrimination. The films are synthesized by electrodeposition on n-type Si substrates with the assistance of N-acetyl-L/D-cysteine as symmetry-breaking agents. The enhanced effects of photomagnetic-chiral anisotropy and surface-enhanced Raman scattering-chiral anisotropy in these films are attributed to the selective spin polarization coupling between the films and enantiomers.

Summary: A new chiral plasmonic nanostructure, helically grooved gold nanoarrows (HeliGNAs), was constructed by introducing L-/D-cysteine during growth, leading to tunable plasmonic circular dichroism. HeliGNAs can self-assemble into a superhelix at high concentrations, establishing a chiroptical switch based on the photoisomerization of an achiral azobenzene derivative.
