Bioinspired Amphibious Origami Robot with Body Sensing for Multimodal Locomotion

Huixu Dong et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel bioinspired amphibious origami machine with body sensing for multimodal locomotion. The robot, inspired by inchworm peristalsis and human swimming behaviors, can move on land and in water. The robot features crawling forward, turning right/left, and swimming capabilities. Highly stretchable and foldable resistive sensors are used for sensing, and a self-designed pneumatic system is employed for efficient control of the robot's high degrees of freedom.

A Bioinspired Stress-Response Strategy for High-Speed Soft Grippers

Yangqiao Lin et al.

Summary: The stress-response strategy allows for quick environmental response in animals and plants, exemplified by the Venus flytrap. Inspired by this, the high-speed soft gripper (HSG) is introduced, utilizing snap-through instability for instant actuation and a spider-inspired control system for repeatable triggering. By employing the stress-response strategy, the HSG is capable of high-speed grasping tasks and could lead to the development of practical high-speed soft robots.
