Estimating the Relative Crystallinity of Biodegradable Polylactic Acid and Polyglycolide Polymer Composites by Machine Learning Methodologies

Jing Wang et al.

Summary: This research utilizes machine learning methods to estimate the relative crystallinity of biodegradable PLLA/PGA composites. A model with a single hidden layer CFFNN is found to be the most accurate, predicting an experimental database with high accuracy. The study shows that relative crystallinity increases with PGA content and crystallization time, while the effect of temperature is more complex.

Summary: This paper investigates the application and design of liquid-based thermal management systems in battery electric vehicles. It also explores the feasibility of using artificial intelligence to evaluate different battery thermal management systems. By utilizing an artificial neural network model, the average battery temperature and maximum temperature difference on the battery surface can be accurately predicted. The model parameters were optimized, and the predicted results were within a 10% error range compared to the actual values.

Efficacy of diverse structures of wavy baffles on heat transfer amplification of double-diffusive natural convection inside a C-shaped enclosure filled with hybrid nanofluid

M. K. Nayak et al.

Summary: This article investigates the impact of double-diffusive natural convection on fluid flow, heat and mass transfer in a C-shaped enclosure filled with hybrid nanofluid and with two wavy baffles. The finite element method is used to find a well-defined solution to the governing equations. The results show that the strength of the streamlines increases with higher buoyancy ratio, Rayleigh number, Lewis number, and amplitude of the wavy baffles, while it decreases with higher wave number. The stream functions, velocities, and heat and mass transfer rates intensify for any amplitude of the wavy baffles. Local Nusselt number improves significantly with an increase in Rayleigh number. Average entropy is lower at low Rayleigh numbers, while Bejan number attains higher values at low Rayleigh numbers.

Natural convection and entropy generation of a nanoliquid in a crown wavy cavity: Effect of thermo-physical parameters and cavity shape

A. Sattar Dogonchi et al.

Summary: The natural convection of nanoliquids in enclosures has applications in various fields, and recent research has shown that suspending nanomaterials in the base fluid can enhance heat transfer performance. This study focuses on the convection of Al2O3-H2O nanoliquid in a crown cavity with a circular cylinder, under the influence of thermal radiation and a constant magnetic field. Results indicate that parameters such as Rayleigh number, Darcy number, Hartmann number, Radiation parameter, angle of magnetic field, and nanoparticle concentration affect heat transfer performance and entropy generation. Additionally, the geometry of the system also plays a significant role in determining heat transfer efficiency.

Thermal and entropy analyses on buoyancy-driven flow of nanofluid inside a porous enclosure with two square cylinders: Finite element method

A. Sattar Dogonchi et al.

Summary: This article investigates the heat transfer, entropy generation, and fluid flow behavior inside a porous enclosure using a numerical method called FEM for a square cylinder filled with magnetic nanoliquid. The study found that entropy generation increases with rising Hartmann number and Rayleigh number, leading to velocity gradient overshooting within the enclosure. Results show different heat transfer and fluid flow characteristics for varying parameters combinations.

M. K. Nayak et al.

Summary: This study simulated the free convection and entropy generation of nano-encapsulated phase change material (NEPCM) inside a circular cold cylinder using the finite element method, considering the effects of magnetic field and heat flux model. Changes in baffle amplitude and magnetic field strength affect the movement of NEPCMs and entropy generation, while an increase in baffle size alters the flow patterns and velocities.

Thermo-economic and entropy generation analyses of magnetic natural convective flow in a nanofluid-filled annular enclosure fitted with fins

Tahar Tayebi et al.

Summary: A numerical analysis was conducted on the thermo-natural convection and entropy generation of Al2O3-H2O nanofluid enclosed by two circular cylinders in the presence of magnetic fields. The study considered the impact of various parameters on flow, heat transfer, and irreversibilities within the annulus. Results indicated that the irreversibility related to thermal effects became less significant compared to magnetic effects with the increase of Rayleigh values. The study also suggested that thermal transfer enhancement due to magnetic forces may be more costly in terms of nanofluid utilization.

Hussein Togun et al.

Summary: Numerical simulations were conducted to analyze the turbulent heat transfer characteristics of hybrid nanofluids on a vertical double forward-facing step, revealing that an increase in Reynolds number and volume fractions of the nanofluids led to higher heat transfer coefficients. The study also found that the heat transfer performance was better at the second step compared to the first and third steps.
