Gut microbiota and plasma cytokine levels in patients with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

Liang-Jen Wang et al.

Summary: This study explored the correlation between gut microbiome imbalance and inflammation in the pathophysiology of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Differentially abundant bacteria and representative biological pathways were identified in children with ADHD. The plasma levels of TNF-alpha were lower in children with ADHD and negatively correlated with ADHD symptoms and gut microbiome diversity.
