Bifacial photovoltaic performance of semitransparent ultrathin Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells with front and rear transparent conducting oxide contacts

Min Jeong Shin et al.

Summary: The bifacial photovoltaic performance of semitransparent ultrathin Cu(In,Ga)Se-2 (CIGS) solar cells with different absorber thicknesses was investigated under various illumination conditions. It was found that increasing the thickness of the CIGS absorber layer can improve the bifacial performance, with the 300 nm thickness showing more stable performance under changing light intensities.

Significant Passivation Effect of Cu(In, Ga)Se2 Solar Cells via Back Contact Surface Modification Using Oxygen Plasma

Longlong Zeng et al.

Summary: Molybdenum back contact is crucial for CIGS solar cells. A novel molybdenum oxide preparation method was introduced through oxygen plasma treatment of the molybdenum layer. Back passivation was achieved by forming a reverse p-n junction, and the transport of holes was assisted by the molybdenum oxide's gap states, leading to an efficiency improvement of 34.1% in treated solar cells.

Sodium control in Ultrathin Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells on transparent back contact for efficiencies beyond 12%

Yong Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of Na doping on the performance of ultrathin CIGSe solar cells on ITO-coated Na-free glass substrates. The results show that Na doping significantly enhances the performance of the solar cells, particularly in terms of open circuit voltage and fill factor. Controlling the amount of added sodium can lead to higher efficiency, providing a solid foundation for the development of ultrathin CIGSe cells on TCO in promising applications.
