Broad Spectrum Anti-Bacterial Activity and Non-Selective Toxicity of Gum Arabic Silver Nanoparticles

Summary: This study investigated the antimicrobial and cytotoxicity effects of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized using different reducing agents. The results showed that AgNPs synthesized using gum arabic had higher bactericidal activity and non-selective cytotoxicity towards normal and cancer cells. AgNPs synthesized using other reducing agents had insignificant antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity at certain concentrations.

A New Silver Nano-Formulation of Cassia auriculata Flower Extract and its Anti-Diabetic Effects

Summary: In this study, silver nanoparticles were synthesized using a flower extract of Cassia auriculata L. and their anti-diabetic efficiency was studied in rats. The results showed that these nanoparticles significantly reduced blood glucose levels in diabetic rats and restored damaged cells. They also normalized lipid profiles, serum protein, liver glycogen, and liver and kidney functions. This suggests that the biosynthesized silver nanoparticles may be a potential alternative biopharmaceutical agent for the treatment of diabetes.
