Estimation of manufacturing development costs of cell-based therapies: a feasibility study

Renske M. T. ten Ham et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the feasibility of estimating the cost of manufacturing development of two cell-based therapy case studies using a CBT cost framework specifically designed for small-scale cell-based therapies. The results showed that retrospectively estimating the manufacturing design cost of two case studies in one Scottish facility was feasible. The majority of costs accrued in the facility and personnel domains.

Korea National Stem Cell Bank

Jung-Hyun Kim et al.

Summary: The Korea National Stem Cell Bank has been storing pluripotent stem cell lines since 2012, distributing research-grade human embryonic stem cell and induced pluripotent stem cell lines, as well as GMP-compliant homozygous iPSC lines. Quality of the cell lines is ensured through 18 different tests, and genetic stability data is collected for public access.

EBiSC best practice: How to ensure optimal generation, qualification, and distribution of iPSC lines

Rachel Steeg et al.

Summary: The generation of disease-relevant human induced pluripotent stem cells requires adherence to ethical, legal, and quality standards, with best practices integrated into daily operations for maximizing their potential. Key experiences from operating the European Bank for induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (EBiSC) over 7 years are discussed, with recommendations on how to incorporate solutions into daily management framework.
