Improvement in the photoelectrochemical water-splitting performance using GaN nanowires with bundle structures

Sangmoon Han et al.

Summary: The photoelectrochemical water splitting performance was significantly improved by forming bundles of gallium nitride nanowires through acetone treatment. This led to a 314% increase in current density and a 317% increase in photon-to-current efficiency compared to pristine nanowires. This enhancement was largely attributed to the reduction of surface-trap states and improved carrier migration due to the bundling of neighboring nanowires.
