Evaluating Lead Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals as a Spin Laser Gain Medium

Beibei Tang et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the potential of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals as a gain medium for spin lasers, considering their high degree of polarization. The results show that polarizing the charge using circularly polarized photoexcitation can reduce the optical gain threshold, but prolonging the spin relaxation lifetime is necessary for achieving a spin laser.

How do gold nanoparticles boost the performance of perovskite solar cells?

Daming Zheng et al.

Summary: Improving the quality and properties of perovskite thin-film solar cells is crucial for their large-scale commercialization. In this study, the effect of introducing gold nanoparticles (Au_NPs) into MAPbI(3) layers for solar cells was investigated. Experimental results showed a 12% improvement in stabilized efficiency by introducing an optimized amount of Au_NPs. The nanoparticles were found to improve the quality of the perovskite films by promoting the formation of monolithic grains with few defects and reduced grain boundaries, which are desirable for high efficiency.

Energy Transfer Assisted Fast X-ray Detection in Direct/Indirect Hybrid Perovskite Wafer

Lulu Liu et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite scintillators have high quantum yields and great potential in indirect ionizing radiation detection. However, the afterglow phenomenon limits their fast development. A new type of hybrid X-ray detector wafer, combining direct methylamine lead iodide (MAPbI(3)) semiconductor and indirect cesium copper iodide (Cs3Cu2I5) scintillator, reduces the device response time to X-rays and improves the detection capability. The hybrid wafer also demonstrates improved operation stability.

Daming Zheng et al.

Summary: Optimizing the A-site cation composition is crucial for improving the efficiency performance and stability of hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite solar cells. Methylammonium plays a key role in film growth, and under thermal aging stress, MA(+) is rapidly eliminated while stable methyl formamidinium compounds remain in the perovskite layer.

Halide Ion Migration and its Role at the Interfaces in Perovskite Solar Cells

Minjin Kim et al.

Summary: Lead-halide perovskite solar cells have shown impressive improvement in photovoltaic performance within a few years, but their commercialization is impeded by stability issues and hysteresis. Research has confirmed the impact of ion migration on hysteresis effect and the formation of a charge accumulation layer at interfaces, potentially promoted by grain boundaries. It was found that iodide ions diffuse through the electron transport layer over time under dark conditions, chemically interacting with the front-end electrode to form silver iodide.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.
