Sensitivity Analysis of Random Frequency Responses of Hybrid Multi-functionally Graded Sandwich Shells

Vaishali et al.

Summary: This paper presents a sensitivity analysis of random natural frequency responses of hybrid multi-functionally graded sandwich shells. The study develops a novel MARS-based sensitivity analysis method to achieve computational efficiency without compromising the outcome. The results demonstrate the significant effects of variable input parameters on the random frequency responses of these structures. The article contributes to the development of a computationally efficient sensitivity analysis approach and provides insightful numerical results for hybrid structures.

Data-driven probabilistic performance of Wire EDM: A machine learning based approach

Subhankar Saha et al.

Summary: The study quantifies the impact of parametric uncertainty on the performance of the WEDM process, constructing four different machine learning models using noisy experimental data and comparing their goodness of fit. Results indicate that pulse on time and peak current are the most sensitive parameters influencing the performance measures of WEDM.

Probabilistic investigation of temperature-dependent vibrational behavior of hetero-nanotubes

Aditya Roy et al.

Summary: This report presents a probabilistic investigation of the temperature-dependent resonant frequency of different hetero-nanotubes and Van der Waals heterostructures. The vibrational response of pristine SWCNT is validated before extensive atomistic simulations are conducted. The results are found to be in agreement with previous literature, allowing for further detailed analysis. The study shows that the Van der Waals heterostructures exhibit slightly higher resonant frequencies compared to DWCNT. The heterogeneity has a positive impact on the failure strain of the structures but reduces fracture strength and Young's modulus. The temperature-dependent resonant frequencies of hetero-junctions and Van der Waals heterostructures are characterized using a machine learning-based framework integrated with random sampling-based MD simulations.

Probability-based unified sensitivity analysis for multi-objective performances of composite laminates: A surrogate-assisted approach

S. Kushari et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a unified sensitivity analysis method for composite plates based on surrogate and engineering judgment, combined with Least Angle Regression assisted Polynomial Chaos Expansion on finite element modeling to achieve computational efficiency without compromising the results, crucial for computationally intensive multiobjective systems like composites. The layer-wise unified sensitivity quantification of laminated composites considering multi-functional objectives, as presented here, would lead to more optimized designs and better quality control in manufacturing complex advanced structural systems.

Probing the stochastic fracture behavior of twisted bilayer graphene: Efficient ANN based molecular dynamics simulations for complete probabilistic characterization

K. K. Gupta et al.

Summary: The present article investigates the probabilistic properties of twisted bilayer graphene (tBLG) structures under uniaxial tensile conditions. It is observed that as the twist angle of tBLG increases, the fracture responses show a declining trend. Monte Carlo simulation and molecular dynamics simulation are used to analyze the fracture behavior of tBLG structures under different control parameters. The application of a machine learning model further enhances the understanding of tBLG structures.

Natural frequency measurement of steel components by the sound signal

Shuai Luo et al.

Summary: A new non-contact test method based on sound signals for natural frequencies of steel components is proposed in this paper. Through experiments, it is shown that this method can accurately determine the natural frequencies of steel components, with results comparable to traditional modal test methods.
