Experimental and Numerical Evaluation of a Welded Demountable Shear Connector through Horizontal Pushout Tests

Ahmed S. H. Suwaed et al.

Summary: A novel demountable shear connector for sustainable steel-concrete composite structures is proposed in this study. Experimental and numerical results demonstrate that the connector has higher shear resistance and slip capacity, promoting the reuse of building materials.

Horizontal pushout tests and parametric analyses of a locking-bolt demountable shear connector

Jun He et al.

Summary: The article introduces a 'locking-bolt' demountable shear connector (LBDSC) designed to facilitate the deconstruction and reuse of steel-concrete composite structures in a more sustainable construction design paradigm. The structural behavior of the LBDSC is evaluated through experiments, showing higher shear resistance and similar initial stiffness compared to traditional welded studs. The LBDSC is classified as a ductile shear connector according to Eurocode 4.

Standard Pushout Tests and Design Rules for a Bolted-Welded Hybrid Demountable Shear Connector

Jun He et al.

Summary: A bolted-welded hybrid demountable shear connector for use in deconstructable steel-concrete composite buildings and bridges was proposed. Experimental and numerical studies were conducted to assess the shear performance of the connector. A design equation for predicting the shear resistance was proposed based on the results.
