The post-SOX comparative dynamics of public accounting firm efficiency

Ephraim Clark et al.

Summary: The study reveals that market competition and GDP growth can improve the efficiency of public accounting firms, while inflation can decrease it. Results also indicate that lagging firms are catching up to leading firms within the same country and group, and less efficient countries are catching up to more efficient countries. This research highlights the impact of business environmental factors on the efficiency of public accounting firms and investigates the comparative dynamics of efficiency gaps in this sector.

Does government subsidy stimulate or shackle new energy industry efficiency? Evidence from China

Shuai Lu et al.

Summary: This paper examines the development of China's new energy industry from 2013 to 2017 and the effect of government subsidies. Through analyzing data from listed companies, the study finds that the industry's efficiency initially increased but then noticeably declined. The government subsidies had a positive impact on the industry, but they also had a limiting effect after reaching a certain threshold. Additionally, cash flow and R&D investments were found to have a positive mediating effect on industry efficiency, while management self-interest had a negative mediating effect.

Performance analysis of Indian states based on social-economic infrastructural investments using data envelopment analysis

Gaurav Goyal et al.

Summary: This study uses data envelopment analysis (DEA) to investigate the performance of Indian states in social and economic infrastructure investments. A four-stage DEA approach is used to evaluate the per capita GDP contribution, efficiency of investments in social and economic infrastructure, and cooperative efficiency of the states. The findings suggest that the government can identify top and poor performers, and variations in efficiency tally of states can be studied using Malmquist indices.
