Effects of supplementing low-protein diets with sodium dichloroacetate and glucose on growth performance, carcass traits, and meat quality of growing-finishing pigs

Yetong Xu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of supplementing low-protein diets with sodium dichloroacetate (DCA) and glucose on the growth performance and meat quality of pigs. The results showed that DCA supplementation improved the growth performance of pigs, while glucose supplementation increased muscle protein content.

Effect of pelleted alfalfa or native grass total mixed ration on the rumen bacterial community and growth performance of lambs on the Mongolian Plateau

Y. L. Zhou et al.

Summary: The present study investigated the effects of alfalfa and native grass total mixed ration (TMR) on the rumen bacterial community and growth performance in Ujimqin lambs. The results showed that there were differences in the diversity and composition of rumen microbiota between the alfalfa group and native grass group. Additionally, the intake of the alfalfa group was significantly higher than that of the native grass group.

Low Protein Diet Improves Meat Quality and Modulates the Composition of Gut Microbiota in Finishing Pigs

Cui Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of a low protein diet on various aspects of finishing pigs, including growth performance, nitrogen emission, carcass traits, meat quality, and gut microbiota. The results showed that the low protein diet reduced nitrogen emission, improved meat quality, and had no significant impact on growth performance. It also regulated antioxidant capacity and gene expression related to fat metabolism, as well as modulated the composition of gut microbiota.

Regulation of GH and GH Signaling by Nutrients

Marina Caputo et al.

Summary: Growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-I) play crucial roles in lifespan, growth, metabolism, and nutrient utilization. Nutrients are essential modifiers of the GH/IGF-I axis, and these hormones also regulate the utilization of nutrients in cells and tissues.
