Post-stroke depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms and their associated factors: A cross-sectional study

Khader A. Almhdawi et al.

Summary: Individuals post-stroke in Jordan experience high proportions of mental health symptoms, including depression, anxiety, and stress. Predictors of these symptoms include SF-12 Mental Composite Score and grip strength. Depression and stress symptoms are significantly associated with discontinuation of rehabilitation services, while fewer hours of sleep are significantly associated with anxiety and stress. Gender and self-reported physical diseases other than stroke are significantly associated with depression symptoms. Future studies are needed to develop effective interventions for improving post-stroke mental health.
