Patients' Self-Disclosure Positively Influences the Establishment of Patients' Trust in Physicians: An Empirical Study of Computer-Mediated Communication in an Online Health Community

Summary: With the development of telemedicine and e-health, online health communities have become a convenient source of information for patients. This study explores the impact of patients' self-disclosure on their trust in physicians, using data from the China-based online health community Good Doctor. The results show that patients' self-disclosure positively influences their trust in physicians, and the provision of social support by physicians mediates this relationship. Additionally, the motivation for seeking help in patients' messages has different effects on patients' self-disclosure depending on the type of social support provided by physicians.

Summary: This study explores how corporate social responsibility (CSR) affects disruptive innovation under various degrees of environmental turbulence. The empirical results indicate that CSR (external and internal CSR) positively affects disruptive innovation, with technological turbulence positively moderating this relationship. However, market turbulence negatively moderates the relationship between external CSR and disruptive innovation.

Summary: This study assessed patients' evaluation of received information and information needs before utilizing the CMyLife platform. The results showed that there was room for improvement in information provision, especially regarding other services such as rehabilitation and psychological support, and the effects of treatment on sexuality. A significant proportion of patients desired more information, and this need was associated with factors such as age, time since diagnosis, and educational level. The most visited pages were related to medication and side effects.

Readability of Online Spine Patient Education Resources

Summary: This study assessed the readability of spine-related patient education materials on professional society websites. The results showed that the average readability of these materials exceeded an eighth-grade reading level. Compared to professional societies, WebMD materials had better readability and a higher reading rate. The study also found no improvement in readability since the previous study.
