Health-related quality of life among Ebola survivors in Sierra Leone: the role of socio-demographic, health-related and psycho-social factors

Peter Bai James et al.

Summary: Sociodemographic, health-related, and psycho-social factors are significantly associated with decreased levels of HRQoL among EVD survivors. Older age, lack of formal education, increased symptoms, and experienced stigma are associated with decreased physical health. Longer time spent in the Ebola treatment center and experienced stigma are associated with decreased mental health.

Health-related quality of life deviations from population norms in patients with lumbar radiculopathy: associations with pain, pain cognitions, and endogenous nociceptive modulation

Wouter Van Bogaert et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of individuals with lumbar radiculopathy to population norms in the UK, and explore associations with pain cognitions, pain intensity, and endogenous nociceptive modulation. The results showed that individuals with lumbar radiculopathy reported significantly lower HRQoL scores compared to the UK norms, with pain catastrophizing having the most significant association with the SF-6D difference scores.

Is reduced health-related quality of life a primary manifestation of fibromyalgia? A comparative study with Rheumatoid arthritis

Carmen M. Galvez-Sanchez et al.

Summary: This study compared the different components of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) between fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, and evaluated the relationships between HRQoL and clinical and emotional factors. The results showed that FMS patients had lower HRQoL values compared to RA patients and healthy participants. Clinical and emotional factors were inversely associated with HRQoL scores, with depression and fatigue being the strongest negative predictors. However, most of these associations disappeared after considering the type of diagnosis in the regression analysis.
