Motor Development among Spanish Preschool Children

Cristina Honrubia-Montesinos et al.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze motor development of Spanish preschoolers in relation to factors such as sex, age, being an only child, prematurity, and participation in extracurricular activities. Gender differences were found in locomotor and object control skills in 3-4 year olds, but not in 5 year olds. Being an only child and prematurity did not impact motor development, while participation in extracurricular physical activities was associated with higher motor skills. Further research is needed to explore differences between boys and girls in object control, potentially influenced by the types of extracurricular activities.
