Strigea robusta (Digenea: Strigeidae) infection effects on the gonadal structure and limb malformation in toad early development

Anton O. Svinin et al.

Summary: The study found that the anomaly P syndrome can be caused by the trematode Strigea robusta, and polydactyly and heavy forms of the syndrome can also be observed in toads of the genera Bufo and Bufotes. Furthermore, it was discovered that the parasite does not have any effect on the gonadal development of the toads.

Summary: This article is the first review of the helminth fauna of the moor frog in the Volga River basin, including nine new helminth species recorded in Russia. The study identified thirty-eight helminth species from three classes: Cestoda, Trematoda, and Chromadorea.

Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses in ecology and evolutionary biology: a PRISMA extension

Rose E. O'Dea et al.

Summary: Since the early 1990s, ecologists and evolutionary biologists have used meta-analytic methods to aggregate primary research and understand ecological and evolutionary phenomena. While meta-analyses can help resolve disputes and generate new questions, the quality of the publications depends on transparent and reproducible reporting by the authors. Improving reporting quality may require referencing guidelines and using structured methods.

A practical guide to question formation, systematic searching and study screening for literature reviews in ecology and evolution

Yong Zhi Foo et al.

Summary: This paper provides a practical guide for ecologists and evolutionary biologists on conducting systematic reviews, explaining steps with a worked example and training exercises. The guide shares tricks of the trade and useful software in hopes of demystifying the systematic search process and encouraging more researchers to adopt a systematic and reproducible approach.
