Green synthesis of iron oxide/cellulose magnetic recyclable nanocomposite and its evaluation in ciprofloxacin removal from aqueous solutions

Amir Azizi

Summary: In this study, iron oxide/cellulose magnetic nanocomposite was synthesized using natural chemical components from Verbascum thapsus plant. The properties of the nanocomposite and its adsorption ability for ciprofloxacin removal were investigated, achieving a removal efficiency of 92.01% by optimizing various parameters. Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-first-order kinetic model were found to be the best models for fitting the experimental data.

Hydrothermal synthesis of magnetic sludge biochar for tetracycline and ciprofloxacin adsorptive removal

Yongfei Ma et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that biochar derived from municipal sludge activated by zinc chloride can be used as Fe/Zn-SBC with high adsorption capacity for tetracycline and ciprofloxacin. Fe/Zn-SBC is primarily influenced by pore filling, oxygen-containing groups complexation, pi-pi conjugation, and hydrogen bonding during the adsorption process, exhibiting high selective adsorption capacity.

Adsorptive removal of ciprofloxacin with different dissociated species onto titanate nanotubes

Haodong Ji et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption behavior and mechanism of ciprofloxacin (CIP) with different dissociated species by titanate nanotubes (TNTs) through experimental and theoretical calculations. The results showed that the protonation/deprotonation state of CIP affects the adsorption ability, and the electrostatic potential energy can serve as an indicator of adsorption ability for PPCPs molecules. TNTs have great potential for removing PPCPs through adsorption in practical wastewater treatment.

Selective adsorption of ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin from a binary system using lignin-based adsorbents: Quantitative analysis, adsorption mechanisms, and structure-activity relationship

Boqiang Gao et al.

Summary: A series of actinia-shaped LNAEs were designed with LN as the core and grafted PAA as the tentacle, showing selective removal of CIP over OFL due to the CAHB formed between the carboxyl group of LNAEs and the secondary amino group of CIP, with the distribution of branched PAA playing a key role in improving adsorptive selectivity. This study provides a fundamental understanding of the structure-activity relationship of modified adsorbents and offers guidance for the development of novel and efficient adsorbents in binary pollutant systems.
