Single and competitive adsorption between Indigo Carmine and Methyl orange dyes on quaternized kapok fiber adsorbent prepared by radiation technique

Jifu Du et al.

Summary: The competitive adsorption and selective adsorption mechanism of Indigo Carmine (IC) and Methyl Orange (MO) dyes using methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride functionalized kapok fiber (DKF) were investigated. The results showed that DKF had good adsorption capacity for individual adsorption of IC and MO, and exhibited selective adsorption towards IC.

Discoloration of indigo dyes by eco-friendly biocatalysts

Kwon-Young Choi

Summary: Indigo dyeing technology generates hazardous by-products and sludge, causing environmental pollution. Biological treatments using enzymes have been spotlighted as a green solution, but process design and enzyme production strategy must be optimized for cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, attention should be given to electron mediators supply and unexpected by-products removal during the whole process.

Hydrothermal Synthesis of Biomass-Derived Magnetic Carbon Composites for Adsorption and Catalysis

Gareth Davies et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the synthesis of magnetic iron-carbon composites from waste avocado seeds via hydrothermal carbonization, showing excellent performance in adsorption and catalytic applications. The solid catalyst has the advantages of being prepared from waste material and easy removal after reaction through magnetic separation. Furthermore, the carbon-based materials produced in this process have potential applications in energy storage and biopharmaceuticals.

Green low cost nanomaterial produced from Moringa oleifera seed waste for enhanced removal of chlorpyrifos from wastewater: Mechanism and sorption studies

Hala M. Hamadeen et al.

Summary: The study developed a novel nanoscale Moringa olivera seeds waste (nMSW) as an effective bio-nanosrbent for enhanced removal of chlorpyrifos from contaminated wastewater. The nMSW exhibited superior adsorption capacity compared to conventional bulk MSW and most reported green sorbents, with remarkable removal efficiency achieved in a short contact time period. The thermodynamic parameters and bio-sorption data suggested the main driving forces in CPF removal mechanism by nMSW.
