Incidental nonfunctioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors: Contrast enhanced ultrasound features in diagnosis

Daohui Yang et al.

Summary: This retrospective study analyzed the CEUS features of nonfunctioning pNETs and compared them with PDACs. The results showed that CEUS features are helpful for preoperative non-invasive differential diagnosis of nonfunctioning pNETs.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound for evaluating response to pulsed-wave high-intensity focused ultrasound therapy in advanced pancreatic cancer

Yu Yang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the use of CEUS parameters in evaluating the response to PW-HIFU treatment in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. The results showed that pain score and CA19-9 levels decreased after treatment. Tumors were classified into different vessel grades based on CEUS, and the response to treatment varied among different grades.

Application of dynamic contrast enhanced ultrasound in distinguishing focal-type autoimmune pancreatitis from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

Yi-Jie Qiu et al.

Summary: This study explores the value of dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US) in the preoperative differential diagnosis of focal-type AIP and PDAC. The results show significant differences in enhancement patterns, time intensity curves, and quantitative parameters between AIP and PDAC lesions.

Retrospective Evaluation of Treatment Response in Patients with Nonmetastatic Pancreatic Cancer Using CT and CA 19-9

Seung-Seob Kim et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of combined CT and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9) evaluation at 8 weeks after first-line treatment for predicting overall survival (OS) in patients with nonmetastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The results showed that integrated evaluation with CT and CA 19-9 response allowed more accurate stratification and prediction of survival in these patients.

PREDICTION OF MICROVASCULAR INVASION IN COMBINED HEPATOCELLULAR-CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA BASED ON PRE-OPERATIVE CLINICAL DATA AND CONTRAST-ENHANCED ULTRASOUND CHARACTERISTICS

Y. A. N. L. I. N. G. Chen et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of pre-operative clinical information and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) imaging characteristics in diagnosing microvascular invasion (MVI) in combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (CHC) patients. The results showed that heterogeneous enhancement and marked washout on CEUS were independent predictors of MVI in CHC. Patients with MVI had earlier recurrence after hepatectomy.

Improving quality of life in pancreatic cancer patients following high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in two European centers

Milka Marinova et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of HIFU on the quality of life of patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. The results showed significant improvements in global health, physical functioning, emotional functioning, social functioning, pain, fatigue, and appetite loss after HIFU treatment. The study concluded that HIFU can effectively improve QOL and physical symptoms with minimal side effects, making it a valuable additional treatment option for advanced pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic Cancer: A Review

Wungki Park et al.

Summary: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a relatively uncommon cancer with increasing incidence each year, resulting in a high percentage of patients being diagnosed with advanced disease. Current cytotoxic therapies for PDAC are moderately effective, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary management, comprehensive germline testing, and integrated supportive care for all patients.

Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 as prognostic markers for advanced pancreatic cancer patients receiving first-line chemotherapy

Kabsoo Shin et al.

Summary: In patients with advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma undergoing first-line chemotherapy, a post-treatment NLR < 2.62 and >18% reduction in CA19-9 levels are significantly associated with better overall survival and progression-free survival. Post-treatment NLR < 2.62 alone can be used as a prognostic marker and adjunctive tool for response evaluation in CA19-9-negative patients.
