Improving acute kidney injury diagnostic precision using biomarkers

Denise Hasson et al.

Summary: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common in hospitalized patients and has significant morbidity and mortality. Accurate prediction and early identification of AKI is crucial, although current therapies are limited. Clinical biomarkers, such as plasma Cystatin C, urine NGAL, TIMP2, and IGFBP7, have been studied for their potential in predicting AKI. This review focuses on the description and discussion of these clinically available AKI biomarkers and their use in delineating AKI phenotypes.

Urinary exosomal CD26 is associated with recovery from acute kidney injury in intensive care units: a prospective cohort study

Juan Du et al.

Summary: The study found that urinary exosomal CD26 is associated with renal recovery and reversal after acute kidney injury (AKI). A high CD26 level may be related to reversal within 28 days in AKI patients. In survivors of AKI, a high CD26 level is associated with early reversal, recovery, and reversal.

Summary: The study indicates that urinary exosomal CD26 is a promising prognosis biomarker associated with renal reversal and recovery in AKI patients.
