Pore Development During CO2 and Steam Activation of a Spent Tyre Pyrolysis Char

Juan Zhang et al.

Summary: The experimental study focused on the activation of spent tyre pyrolysis char using CO2 and steam, with results showing that higher temperature, activation agent concentration, and longer reaction time can lead to higher carbon conversion and surface area. Micropores were created in the early stage of activation, with steam-activated chars exhibiting higher BET surface areas and more pores compared to CO2-activated chars.

Experimental investigation of performance and emission characteristics of a miniature gas turbine supplied by blends of kerosene and waste tyre pyrolysis oil

T. Suchocki et al.

Summary: The research aims to investigate the effect of blending waste tyre pyrolysis oil with kerosene on the performance and emission parameters of a small gas turbine. It was found that as the fraction of pyrolytic oil in the blends increased, the turbine's performance and NOx emissions tended to increase at high rotational speeds, while SO2 emissions decreased across all blends.

Removal of impurities from waste tire pyrolysis char using the molten salt thermal treatment

Hua Tang et al.

Summary: The innovative molten salt thermal treatment was proposed to remove impurities from waste tire pyrolytic char, with the highest removal rate achieved at 400 degrees Celsius. This method effectively removed over 80% of ash and 70% of sulfur, achieving a char recovery rate between 71% and 83%.

An experimental study of Ni-Mo adsorbent for reactive adsorption desulfurization of spent tire pyrolysis oil modelled using n-hexane and thiophene

Qian Zhang et al.

Summary: Using a co-precipitated nickel-molybdenum (NiMo) adsorbent for the reactive adsorption desulfurization (RADS) of model spent tire pyrolysis oil, it was found that under mild reaction conditions of 300 degrees C, 1 MPa, and 108 H:S molar ratio, a sulfur removal percentage of 99.9% was achieved. Ni and Mo played cooperative and multifunctional roles in the RADS process, acting first as sulfur acceptors and then as active centers for hydrodesulfurization (HDS).

Analysis of Activation Process of Carbon Black Based on Structural Parameters Obtained by XRD Analysis

Sang-Min Lee et al.

Summary: In this study, carbon black activated by CO2 gas was analyzed through XRD analysis to observe changes in structural parameters. The activation process was controlled by isothermally activating the carbon black with CO2 gas flow, gradually activating the amorphous fraction on the surface and less-developed crystalline regions.
