The composite films show great potential in advanced MXene-based supercapacitors using various ionic liquid electrolytes, achieving high energy density and maintaining high coulombic efficiency after 2000 cycles.

The sensors made from these nanocomposites showed higher gas sensitivities to ammonia compared to pure PPy and MXene, with excellent selectivity and low detection limit. These findings demonstrate the practicality of PPy/MXene nanocomposites for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

A Dual-Surface Mechanism of Oxidant-Free Pyrrole Polymerization in the Two-Dimensional Titanium Carbide (MXene) Interlayer Nanospace

Key factors for the oxidant-free polymerization were identified, including the configuration of surface hydrogen-bonded pyrrole, surface acidity, confinement effect, and charge transfer between MXene surfaces and pyrrole monomers. By controlling these factors, covalently bonded conducting organic molecules/polymers can be designed on or in between MXene interlayers for electronic applications, providing a general mechanistic understanding and guideline for other possible in situ polymerizations on and in between two-dimensional MXene interlayers.

Physical, Chemical, and Electrochemical Properties of Redox-Responsive Polybenzopyrrole as Electrode Material for Faradaic Energy Storage

Summary: Polybenzopyrrole synthesized in surfactant-supported acidic medium showed significantly enhanced thermal stability and electrochemical properties, with a maximum specific capacitance of 166.0 +/- 2.0 F g(-1) and excellent cycle stability of 87% after 5000 cycles at a current density of 1 A g(-1). The results suggest that polybenzopyrroles are competitive electrode materials for next-generation Faradaic supercapacitors, with high-power density and energy density. The findings of this study can also be easily applied to other systems for the synthesis of advanced hybrid/composite Pbp-based electrode materials.
