A fluorescent nanoprobe based on cell-penetrating peptides and quantum dots for ratiometric monitoring of pH fluctuation in lysosomes

Yan Yang et al.

Summary: A lysosome-targeting ratiometric fluorescent nanoprobe based on CPPs and QDs has been developed for monitoring pH fluctuation in living cells. The nanoprobe efficiently stains lysosomes in cells and enables ratiometric pH measurement. This method is expected to have wider applications in detecting subcellular active substances by combining different small molecular probes and functional peptides.

Thermochromism of 1,4-bis[2-(4-pyridyl)ethenyl]-benzene derivatives

Ning Chu et al.

Summary: Three thermochromic materials (DC8, DC12, DC16) were synthesized by linking the rigid bpeb with different lengths of alkyl chains, showing remarkable fluorescent color changes under 365 nm light irradiation with temperature elevation, along with photochromic character in DC16. Differential scanning calorimetry measured phase transition temperatures higher than fluorescence color change temperatures, attributing the allochroic effect to the synergistic action of heating and photo-inducement. Reversibility of thermochromic behavior and fluorescence recovery were demonstrated by ethanol treatment.
