Impact of Temperature and Water on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Maize (Zea mays L.)

Hussein Khaeim et al.

Summary: Temperature and water availability are important factors influencing seed germination and seedling development in maize. This study determined the optimal temperature, water supply, and planting density for maize seeds by manipulating factors such as temperature, water levels, and seed size. The results showed that 20 degrees C was the ideal temperature, and water requirements were associated with seed size. Priming seeds with an antifungal solution improved seedling development.

The Stimulation of Superoxide Dismutase Enzyme Activity and Its Relation with the Pyrenophora teres f. teres Infection in Different Barley Genotypes

Viola Kunos et al.

Summary: Changes in superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme activity were studied in infected barley seedlings to explore its role in the defense mechanism induced by Pyrenophora teres f. teres (PTT). Results showed significant increases in SOD activity in all barley varieties at early infection stages, with strong correlations between PTT infection scores and SOD activity, suggesting SOD activity alone is not sufficient for assessing resistance levels.

The Effect of Temperature and Water Stresses on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Hussein Khaeim et al.

Summary: Temperature and moisture are crucial for seed germination and seedling growth. This study examined the effects of various abiotic stressors on the germination and growth of wheat seeds, and identified the optimal temperature and water conditions for seedling growth.

Ripening-Induced Changes in the Nutraceutical Compounds of Differently Coloured Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) Breeding Lines

Zsofia Kovacs et al.

Summary: This study investigates the correlation between anthocyanin accumulation and antioxidant capacity in purple pepper berries during ripening. The results show a decreasing trend in polyphenolic and flavonoid content as well as antioxidant capacity as the maturity of the samples increases. Both genotype and phenophase have significant effects on phytonutrients, with the extreme purple pepper exhibiting the highest polyphenolic and flavonoid content, as well as antioxidant capacity.

Mechanisms of Waterlogging Tolerance in Plants: Research Progress and Prospects

Jiawei Pan et al.

Summary: Waterlogging is a major abiotic stress for plants, affecting their energy metabolism and growth processes. Plants respond by regulating their morphology, energy metabolism, hormone synthesis, and signaling pathways. Future research should focus on the effects of waterlogging on plant morphology, photosynthesis, and respiration.

Effect of Low Temperature on Germination, Growth, and Seed Yield of Four Soybean (Glycine max L.) Cultivars

Anna Szczerba et al.

Summary: The study found that the plants of 'Abelina', 'Malaga', and 'Merlin' cultivars germinating at low temperature produced the highest number of seeds, with seed number negatively correlated with seed dry weight. In 'Abelina' and 'Malaga', seed number also positively correlated with the index performance of photosystem II.

Successful Plant Growth-Promoting Microbes: Inoculation Methods and Abiotic Factors

Monyck Jeane dos Santos Lopes et al.

Summary: Plant-microbe interactions are important for sustainable development and environmental conservation. Inoculating plant growth-promoting microbes can enhance plant growth, but challenges such as inconsistent results due to inoculation methods and abiotic factors still exist in research.
