Synthesis of strontium (Sr) doped hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanorods for enhanced adsorption of Cr (VI) ions from wastewater

Yuting Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel strontium-doped hydroxyapatite nanorods were synthesized for enhanced chromium (VI) adsorption, achieving significantly higher adsorption capacity than undoped hydroxyapatite nanorods. The Langmuir isotherm model was used to reveal that monolayer chemical adsorption played a crucial role in efficient chromium (VI) ion removal by strontium-doped hydroxyapatite nanorods, with surface area and surface functional groups contributing to the differences in adsorption capacities between HAp and Sr-HAp.

Highly Porous Hydroxyapatite/Graphene Oxide/Chitosan Beads as an Efficient Adsorbent for Dyes and Heavy Metal Ions Removal

Nguyen Van Hoa et al.

Summary: In this study, highly porous hydroxyapatite/graphene oxide/chitosan beads were prepared and investigated as efficient adsorbents for methylene blue and copper ions. The beads showed rapid adsorption, high capacity, easy separation, and were easily reused due to their porous characteristics and negative charges. The maximum sorption capacities of the beads were found to be 99.00 and 256.41 mg g(-1) for methylene blue and copper ions, respectively.

Adsorption of Pb(II) and Cd(II) by magnetic activated carbon and its mechanism

Zhen Zhang et al.

Summary: Magnetized activated carbons (MAC) prepared from rape straw powder showed high adsorption capacities for Pb(II) and Cd(II) due to surface active points, with adsorption behavior conforming to the Freundlich model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Thermodynamic parameters indicated spontaneous and endothermic reactions. Adjusting the pH of the solution could enhance adsorption capacity, but competitive adsorption occurred in the presence of high-valent ions. Adsorption mechanisms included electrostatic attraction, surface complexation, and co-precipitation. The MAC material showed potential for heavy metal ion removal from aqueous solutions.

Magnesium-zinc ferrites as magnetic adsorbents for Cr(VI) and Ni(II) ions removal: Cation distribution and antistructure modeling

Tetiana Tatarchuk et al.

Summary: The study investigated magnesium-zinc ferrites as magnetic sorbents for environmental applications, determining ion distribution and magnetic parameters with low-temperature Mossbauer spectroscopy and VSM data. The adsorption of Cr(VI) and Ni(II) ions showed chemical nature according to Langmuir equation, with the best adsorption capacity found in certain samples. Increasing zinc content led to higher heavy metal removal percentage in mixed ferrite samples, showing promise for heavy metal adsorption.
