Middle Triassic lake deepening in the Ordos Basin of North China linked with global sea-level rise

Xin Jin et al.

Summary: The Yanchang Formation in the modern Ordos Basin was deposited during the Middle Triassic and is a key target for hydrocarbon exploration in Central China. The Chang 7 Member represents the maximum deepening phase of the lake system, but uncertainty remains about its chronostratigraphy. Marine influences in the Ordos Basin at that time suggest a possible global eustatic rise and highstand influencing lake-level variations.
