Multiobjective decision making strategy for selective albumin extraction from a rapeseed cold-pressed meal based on Rough Set approach

Sophie Beaubier et al.

Summary: This article proposes a multiobjective decision making strategy for selective albumin extraction. It uses Pareto's domain determination and a Decision Engineering tool based on the Rough Set approach for ranking. The study considers competing process performance indicators and quality of the solid residue to achieve overall valorization of rapeseed cold-pressed meal. Optimization results show that high selectivity of albumin extraction is detrimental to productivity and solid residue quality. The identified optimal conditions for selective rapeseed albumin extraction yield a high-quality solid residue and a good albumin extraction yield with high selectivity.

Selective extraction of napins: Process optimization and impact on structural and functional properties

Sara Albe-Slabi et al.

Summary: This study successfully determined the optimal conditions for selectively extracting napins from rapeseed meal, resulting in high extraction yield and quality. The use of a rational approach of multicriteria optimization, including a genetico-evolutionary algorithm, proved efficient in achieving these results. Minor structural differences were observed between the extracted proteins, but their functional properties remained comparable.

A new approach for modelling and optimizing batch enzymatic proteolysis

Sophie Beaubier et al.

Summary: This manuscript introduces an original approach for modeling and optimizing batch enzymatic proteolysis, integrating enzymatic cost and reaction duration using a hybrid method of kinetic models and design of experiments. Through successful validation with Alcalase 2.4L and other proteases, the methodology offers an attractive tool for industrial applications to reduce reaction costs and improve efficiency in producing hydrolysates.

High Metal Chelating Properties from Rapeseed Meal Proteins to Counteract Lipid Oxidation in Foods: Controlled Proteolysis and Characterization

Erwann Durand et al.

Summary: The research investigates the enzymatic hydrolysis of rapeseed meal proteins using different proteases and the antioxidant capabilities of the resulting hydrolysates. It is found that peptides produced with Prolyve have significant metal chelating activity, indicating the potential for rapeseed proteins to be utilized as a source of high metal chelating peptides to counteract lipid oxidation in foods.

Production and antioxidant capacity of bioactive peptides from plant biomass to counteract lipid oxidation

Erwann Durand et al.

Summary: Preventing lipid oxidation is a major concern in agri-food and cosmetic sectors, leading to a growing interest in isolating novel naturally occurring antioxidants from plant biomass. Bioactive peptides, which are biologically active sequence of amino acid residues, have shown great potential as antioxidants from plant biomass.
