Effect of Atorvastatin on Knee Cartilage Volume in Patients With Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis: Results From a Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial

Yuanyuan Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that oral atorvastatin did not significantly slow down tibial cartilage volume loss in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis over 2 years. There were also no significant differences in the progression of cartilage defects and bone marrow lesions between the atorvastatin and placebo groups. Additionally, changes in WOMAC pain, stiffness, and function scores over 2 years were not significantly different between the two groups.
