Study on the suppression mechanism of (NH4)2CO3 and SiC for polyethylene deflagration based on flame propagation and experimental analysis

Yansong Zhang et al.

Summary: The PE industry is rapidly developing, but the presence of PE dust in the air is often associated with unexpected explosions. In this study, (NH4)2CO3 and SiC were used for the first time to suppress PE deflagration flames. The results showed that the flame propagation velocity and acceleration decrease with increasing mass fraction of (NH4)2CO3 and SiC. SiC physically suppresses PE explosions by reducing temperature and pressure, while (NH4)2CO3 suppresses explosions through physical and chemical effects. This study provides a theoretical and practical basis for preventing and controlling explosion accidents in the polyethylene industry.

Experimental Study on Evolution of Fracture Network and Permeability Characteristics of Bituminous Coal Under Repeated Mining Effect

Lei Zhang et al.

Summary: Mining of upper multilayers in deep coal seams generates cyclic loading-unloading stresses in bottom layers, which improve permeability and enhance coalbed methane gas drainage. Testing showed that permeability increased approximately by 5.8 times after loading-unloading cyclic tests. Different numbers of loading-unloading cycles produced similar fracturing effects, with the largest effect occurring within the effective stress range of 4 to 11 MPa.
