Optimal location of EV charging stations in a neighborhood considering a multi-objective approach

Leonardo Bitencourt et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a methodology to determine the optimal location of EV semi-fast charging stations using hierarchical clustering and Pareto Frontier method, considering technical, mobility, and user behavior aspects. The results show that the optimal locations should not only consider mid-term EV penetration but also align with long-term planning.

Environmental and economic impact of electric vehicle adoption in the U.S

Zhenhua Chen et al.

Summary: BEV adoption has a relatively low impact on GDP growth, but subsidies have a significant effect on GDP and BEV adoption due to their stimulus effect on household expenditures and vehicle-manufacturing-related sectors. Productivity shocks have a moderate impact on GDP and only affect BEV adoption in competitive markets. The environmental impact is more complex, as while BEV adoption leads to reduced tailpipe emissions, increased manufacturing activity can offset these savings with non-tailpipe emissions growth. Promoting BEV adoption through subsidies should be accompanied by green manufacturing and power generation initiatives to achieve desired emissions reductions.

Integrated line configuration and frequency determination with passenger path assignment in urban rail transit networks

Yu Zhou et al.

Summary: This paper discusses a line planning problem in an urban rail transit network, considering passenger path assignment for optimization of operating costs/profits and minimizing total travel times. The interplay between line planning and passenger assignment is taken into account using a mixed-integer non-linear programming model with linear constraints. An outer approximation method is proposed to linearize the objective, demonstrated with a simplified version of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway network.

Optimal allocation of EV charging spots and capacitors in distribution network improving voltage and power loss by Quantum-Behaved and Gaussian Mutational Dragonfly Algorithm (QGDA)

P. Rajesh et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new methodology for optimal planning of charging stations and capacitors using a quantum-behaved Gaussian mutational dragonfly algorithm (QGDA), which achieves effective results compared to existing techniques in congestion management and reactive power compensation on a distribution network. The study demonstrates that uneven EV charging scenarios can lead to significant voltage imbalance beyond allowable limits.
