Moringa oleifera Lam. extract rescues lead-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis in the rat cerebral cortex

Wedad S. Alqahtani et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the potential protective effect of Moringa oleifera Lam. extract (MOE) against lead-induced neurotoxicity in rats. Treatment with MOE alleviated oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis in the brain cortex exposed to lead acetate (PbAc). The findings suggest that MOE has the potential to attenuate PbAc-induced brain damage in rats by inhibiting NF-kappa B signaling.

Thymol alleviates imidacloprid-induced testicular toxicity by modulating oxidative stress and expression of steroidogenesis and apoptosis-related genes in adult male rats

Taghred M. Saber et al.

Summary: IMI exposure in rats led to a decrease in body weight, reproductive organ weights, sperm quality, testosterone levels, and induced histological changes and apoptosis in the testis. Thymol co-administration significantly alleviated the toxic effects induced by IMI, suggesting it as a potential therapeutic option for IMI-induced reproductive toxicity.

Synergistically enhanced apoptotic and oxidative DNA damaging pathways in the rat brain with lead and/or aluminum metals toxicity: Expression pattern of genes OGG1 and P53

Eman S. El-Shetry et al.

Summary: The study revealed the impact of long-term exposure to lead and/or aluminum on the central nervous system of rats, suggesting that these pollutants may induce neurodegenerative changes through oxidative, apoptotic, and DNA damaging pathways. Additionally, exposure to both lead acetate and aluminium chloride have synergistic damaging effects while exerting opposing effects on the secretion of monoamine neurotransmitters dopamine and 5-HT in rats.
