In vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated its ability to increase antioxidant capacity, interfere with virus replication, and modulate the immune response, suggesting it may be a promising treatment option for severe cases of COVID-19.

Adverse events were mainly observed in Caucasian participants, while no adverse events occurred in Chinese participants.
