Tregs Attenuate Peripheral Oxidative Stress and Acute Phase Proteins in ALS

David R. Beers et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of regulatory T lymphocyte therapy on oxidative stress and acute phase proteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients. The results showed that Treg therapy could suppress levels of oxidized low-density lipoprotein and stabilize serum levels of acute phase proteins. These findings suggest that Treg therapy may serve as a potential monitoring tool for immunomodulating therapies.

Ex vivo expansion of dysfunctional regulatory T lymphocytes restores suppressive function in Parkinson's disease

Aaron D. Thome et al.

Summary: In this study, a shift towards a pro-inflammatory peripheral immune response in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) was identified, with the loss of suppressive functions of regulatory T cells (Tregs) being a significant contributing factor. Ex vivo expansion of Tregs restored and enhanced their suppressive functions, suggesting a potential cell therapeutic approach for patients with PD.
