High-resolution Near-infrared Spectroscopy of a Flare around the Ultracool Dwarf vB 10

Shubham Kanodia et al.

Summary: High-resolution observations using the HPF spectrograph reveal the presence of a flaring event in the M8 dwarf vB 10, with a red asymmetry in the He λ10830 triplet similar to coronal rain in the Sun. Time-series analysis of the flare and comparisons with historical observations provide constraints on the energy and frequency of such flares, allowing for an estimation of flare-induced atmospheric mass loss for hypothetical planets around vB 10.

The THESEUS space mission: science goals, requirements and mission concept

L. Amati et al.

Summary: THESEUS is one of the two space mission concepts being studied by ESA as candidates for the next M5 mission within its Cosmic Vision program. It aims to fully exploit Gamma-Ray Bursts to solve key questions about the early Universe and become a cornerstone of multi-messenger and time-domain astrophysics.

Evidence for GN-z11 as a luminous galaxy at redshift 10.957

Linhua Jiang et al.

Summary: GN-z11, the most distant galaxy known to date, shows strong [C III] and C III] emission lines possibly originating from an active galactic nucleus or enhanced carbon abundance, indicating rapid build-up of stellar mass.

The Galactic neutron star population - I. An extragalactic view of the Milky Way and the implications for fast radio bursts

A. A. Chrimes et al.

Summary: This study compares the distribution of Galactic magnetars, pulsars, and X-ray binaries with extragalactic transient samples, finding that fast radio bursts (FRBs) closely follow the distribution of Galactic neutron stars. This provides further support for FRB models involving isolated young neutron stars or binaries containing a neutron star.
