Research on beam manipulate and RCS reduction based on terahertz ultra-wideband polarization conversion metasurface

Jingwen Wei et al.

Summary: A novel ultra-wideband and high-efficiency reflective polarization converter metasurface is proposed in this paper, with high polarization conversion ratio and relative bandwidth. The use of Pancharatnam-Berry phase principle for designing multi-bit digital coding metasurface elements allows for free adjustment of the scattering angle of reflected EM waves. The results demonstrate significant reduction in radar cross section over a wide frequency range, showing great potential for manipulation of terahertz wave and RCS reduction.

High-Efficiency Metalens Antenna Using Huygens' Metasurface With Glide Symmetric I-Shape Metal Strips

Qun Lou et al.

Summary: The study presents a Huygens' metasurface with glide symmetric I-shape metal strips unit cells for a high-efficiency metalens antenna, achieving over 98.6% transmission amplitude and 360-degree phase shift coverage. Analysis of the unit cell with dislocated I-shape metal strips shows tuned electric and magnetic dipole resonances.

A Review on Metasurface: From Principle to Smart Metadevices

Jie Hu et al.

Summary: Metamaterials are composed of periodic subwavelength metallic/dielectric structures that resonate with incident electromagnetic waves, exhibiting unprecedented properties. Practical application is challenging due to high losses and strong dispersion. Optical metasurfaces, as 2D metamaterials, inherit all properties while providing a solution to limitations.

Reconfigurable magnetic near-field distributions based on the coding metasurfaces in MHz band

Guo Li et al.

Summary: This study proposes and verifies the reconfigurable magnetic near-field distributions using a coding metasurface, which dynamically controls the capacitance of the resonator through adjusting digital voltage signals. The use of simulated annealing algorithm to determine the working frequency of the modulation system avoids time-consuming frequency scanning process. The experimental results are in good agreement with the calculated results, demonstrating the significant potential of coding metasurface for magnetic near-field control.

A wireless communication scheme based on space- and frequency-division multiplexing using digital metasurfaces

Lei Zhang et al.

Summary: Digitally programmable metasurfaces can be used for wireless communication to implement both space- and frequency-division multiplexing, encoding messages through multiple channels to transmit directly to different users at different locations simultaneously without the need for digital-to-analogue conversion and mixing processes. Using a dual-channel wireless communication system based on a two-bit space-time-coding digital metasurface, two different pictures were transmitted to two users simultaneously in real time.
