Summary: Sheep and goats are main livestock in Benin, where ethnoveterinary practices are commonly used due to limited access to synthetic veterinary products. A survey revealed that digestive and reproductive disorders were most treated, with gender, ethnicity, agroecological zone and herd size affecting the level of ethnoveterinary knowledge. Study also identified key medicinal plants used by breeders for treating animal diseases.
