Total and partial posterior quadrant disconnection for medically refractory epilepsy: A systematic review

Summary: A systematic review of 137 patients undergoing posterior quadrant disconnection (PQD) surgery revealed that both total and partial PQD were effective alternatives for managing medically refractory epilepsy. Total PQD patients had a 75% rate of seizure freedom compared to 63% in partial PQD patients. Further studies are needed to explore the utility of preoperative testing modalities and their impact on surgical decision-making.
