LC-HRMS Profiling and Antidiabetic, Antioxidant, and Antibacterial Activities of Acacia catechu (L.f.) Willd

Babita Aryal et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the bioactivity of different solvent extracts of Acacia catechu and annotated its phytoconstituents using LC-HRMS technology. The ethanolic extract exhibited the highest inhibition towards alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase, along with strong antioxidant activity and inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus. LC-HRMS-based dereplication strategy identified 28 secondary metabolites from A. catechu, supporting its traditional medicinal usage.

Conservation of binding properties in protein models

Megan Egbert et al.

Summary: The study assessed the conservation of binding properties when X-ray structures of target proteins are replaced by models, using molecular probe distributions and binding fingerprints. Correlation coefficients between X-ray and model binding fingerprints were correlated with overall accuracy measures, providing a threshold for binding surface conservation. Probe molecule clusters reliably predicted binding hot spots and ligand binding sites, with predicted conformations of flexible loops affecting success rates in protein-protein interaction predictions.
