Quantifying the impacts of climate variation, damming, and flow regulation on river thermal dynamics: a case study of the Wloclawek Reservoir in the Vistula River, Poland

Rui Yang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impacts of climate variation, damming, and flow regulation on river water temperatures using an air2stream-based approach at the Wloclawek Reservoir in Poland. Results showed that damming increased downstream river water temperature by 0.31 celcius from 1952-1983, while climate change and damming had opposite impacts on water temperature. Additionally, flow regulation had minimal impact on downstream river water temperature variation.

Aosta Valley Mountain Springs: A Preliminary Analysis for Understanding Variations in Water Resource Availability under Climate Change

Martina Gizzi et al.

Summary: This study analyzed discharge data from different springs and precipitation data in the Aosta Valley region of Italy to understand the relationship between weather conditions and water availability. The findings reveal that, despite a decrease in overall precipitation, some mountain springs in the Aosta Valley have experienced an increase in water discharge over the past decade.

Summary: This article discusses the role of historic irrigation systems in the changing landscape and economy of the Contraviesa mountain range in Spain. The study reveals that the recent disintegration of traditional management models has compromised the continuity of these systems, leading to landscape impoverishment and homogenization.

A hundred years of Caposele spring discharge measurements: trends and statistics for understanding water resource availability under climate change

G. Leone et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the discharge of the Caposele karst spring in southern Italy over a 100-year period and found a significant decrease in spring discharge over the past century, which is related to increasing temperatures. There were no significant trends found in precipitation series. This result may be common to other areas in central-southern Italy.
