Summary: This study examined the short-term outcomes of minimally invasive liver resection for patients with colorectal liver metastases. The results suggest that laparoscopic and robotic approaches may have advantages over open hepatectomy in terms of blood loss, hospital stay, and morbidity rates.

Systematic review of perioperative and oncologic outcomes of minimally-invasive surgery for hilar cholangiocarcinoma

Federica Cipriani et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic literature review on perioperative and oncologic results of pure laparoscopic and robotic curative-intent surgery for hilar cholangiocarcinoma. For pure laparoscopy, the pooled R0 rate was 86% with overall survival rates ranging from 85% to 100%. For robotic surgeries, the pooled R0 rate was 69% and overall survival rates ranged from 90% to 100%.

A Consensus Meeting on Expert Recommendations on Operating Specifications for Laparoscopic Radical Resection of Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma

Yongfu Xiong et al.

Summary: The laparoscopic radical resection of HCCA is gradually being accepted in major medical centers in China, although it is still considered difficult and high-risk. A consensus meeting organized by Chinese surgical experts resulted in 16 recommendations for perioperative management of HCCA using laparoscopic surgery. These recommendations cover aspects such as preoperative diagnosis, surgical principles, indications, staffing, equipment, laparoscopic techniques, and conversion to open surgery. The consensus aims to promote and facilitate the further development of laparoscopic surgery for HCCA.
