Local Heat Applications as a Treatment of Physical and Functional Parameters in Acute and Chronic Musculoskeletal Disorders or Pain

Ron Clijsen et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of local heat applications (LHAs) in individuals with acute or chronic musculoskeletal disorders. The results showed that LHA had beneficial effects in reducing pain, restoring physical function, improving disability, enhancing quality of life, increasing range of motion, and reducing stiffness. Moreover, LHA also had positive effects on muscular strength. However, the included studies exhibited high heterogeneity and mostly had an unclear risk of bias.

The Role of Innate and Adaptive Immune Cells in Skeletal Muscle Regeneration

Natalia Ziemkiewicz et al.

Summary: The inflammatory response plays a critical role in skeletal muscle regeneration, with various immune cells and biomolecules involved in the process of muscle repair. Research has focused on utilizing immune cells and biomolecules to promote muscle regeneration, along with the development of cell and drug-based immunomodulatory strategies.

Myogenic Differentiation of iPS Cells Shows Different Efficiency in Simultaneous Comparison of Protocols

Aleksandra Ulman et al.

Summary: Induced pluripotent stem cells are a useful tool for studying human embryo development processes such as myogenesis due to their ability to differentiate into three germ layers. Different protocols for obtaining myogenic cells have been described, with Protocol III found to be the most efficient. CD56 was also found to not be a specific marker for evaluating myogenic differentiation.
