Association of aortic valvular complex calcification burden with procedural and long-term clinical outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement

Euihong Ko et al.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of valvular/subvalvular calcium burden on transcatheter aortic valve replacement. The results showed that the levels of valvular/subvalvular calcium volume were positively associated with the occurrence of paravalvular leakage and permanent pacemaker insertion. However, there was no significant difference in the composite outcomes and mortality risk at 12 months between the tertile groups of calcium volume.

Effect of a restrictive pacemaker implantation strategy on mortality after transcatheter aortic valve implantation

Simon Schoechlin et al.

Summary: The study compared the impact of restrictive and liberal PPI strategies post-TAVI on pacemaker implantation rate, hospital stay duration, and 1-year mortality. The restrictive strategy significantly reduced the percentage of patients undergoing PPI before discharge and length of hospital stay.

Three-year outcome after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: Comparison of a restrictive versus a liberal strategy for pacemaker implantation

Simon Schoechlin et al.

Summary: This study compared medium-term outcomes between two different PPI implantation strategies after TAVI, showing that a restrictive PPI strategy significantly reduced the need for PPI and was safe in a 3-year follow-up.

Right bundle branch block is not associated with worse short- and mid-term outcome after transcatheter aortic valve implantation

Maren Weferling et al.

Summary: Preexisting right bundle branch block (RBBB) is associated with significantly higher rates of new pacemaker implantation (PPM) in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) at a German high-volume center, but does not affect short- and mid-term outcomes.

Impact of Bundle Branch Block on Permanent Pacemaker Implantation after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation: A Meta-Analysis

Justine M. Ravaux et al.

Summary: The presence of right bundle branch block (RBBB) significantly increases the risk of post-TAVI permanent pacemaker implantation (PPI), while the impact of left bundle branch block (LBBB) is not significant. This suggests the importance of pre-operative evaluation strategies in patient selection for TAVI.
