Peripheral Neuropathic Pain Following Breast Cancer: Effectiveness and Tolerability of High-Concentration Capsaicin Patch

Denis Dupoiron et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of high-concentration capsaicin patches (HCCPs) in treating peripheral neuropathic pain (PNP) in breast cancer patients and survivors. The results showed that most patients experienced analgesic effects, but there were also some local reactions and hypertension as side effects.

Effectiveness of Adjunctive Analgesics in Head and Neck Cancer Patients Receiving Curative (Chemo-) Radiotherapy: A Systematic Review

Tessa Lefebvre et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the effectiveness of adjunctive analgesics in head and neck cancer patients receiving (chemo-) radiotherapy. Nine studies were included, most of which were of low quality and had a high risk of bias. Only two high-quality randomized controlled trials showed the effectiveness of pregabalin and a doxepin rinse in treating neuropathic pain and pain from oral mucositis in HNC patients receiving (chemo-) radiotherapy. More high-quality trials are needed to provide clear evidence on the effectiveness of adjunctive analgesics in this population.

Pharmacological Management of Painful Peripheral Neuropathies: A Systematic Review

Andreas Liampas et al.

Summary: Management of peripheral neuropathic pain due to polyneuropathy includes medications such as amitriptyline, duloxetine, gabapentin, pregabalin, venlafaxine as monotherapies, and oxycodone as an add-on therapy. Tramadol appears to be effective as both monotherapy and add-on therapy for various etiologies of peripheral neuropathic pain. Weaker evidence exists for the efficacy of several other agents discussed in this review.
